The State Council decided to establish ## Energy Commission

Beijing, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) according to the Chinese government's website, the general office of the State Council recently issued a notice to strengthen energy strategic decision-making and overall coordination in accordance with the institutional reform plan of the State Council deliberated and approved at the ## session of the Eleventh National People's Congress and the spirit of the Notice of the State Council on the establishment of deliberation and coordination institutions (GF [2008] No. 13), The State Council has decided to set up ## an energy commission with Premier Wen Jiabao as its director.

##The main responsibilities of the energy committee are to study and formulate ## energy development strategies, consider major issues in energy security and energy development, and coordinate major issues in domestic energy development and international energy cooperation.
